MY TOP 4 FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS GOODIES

ashkbuck

Christmas is by far my favourite time of the year, and as we enter November, and Santa officially comes to town, the Christmas tree’s go up and we start blasting Michael Bublé – I honestly cannot contain my excitement.

As my mum and I always get into the Christmas spirit through decorating the house and baking as many sweet and scrumptious treats we can think of, I decided to share with you guys my favourites to help you get into the Christmas spirit and try out something new during this festive time of the year.

1: Ginger-bread Men

A classic treat that everybody loves. I don’t have a childhood memory that doesn’t have me sneaking the cookie dough from the bowl whilst my mum rolled it out on the table. Not to mention the decorating, literal hours of simple, festive fun! If that doesn’t get you in the spirit of Saint Nick than I don’t know what will!

2: Chocolate and Apricot Balls

Now these are something I am not sure if anyone, but my family enjoy. A mixture of dried fruit, cornflakes, coconut, chocolate, vanilla and of course condensed milk (wouldn’t be Christmas without the dozens of cans of condensed milk). These are a classic to make and definitely “messy” but that’s all part of the experience!

3: Rocky Road

My mum’s rocky road gets me into the Christmas spirit instantaneously. The Cadbury’s chocolate, marshmallows, honeycomb and cherry ripe all mixed and chilled in the fridge – TO DIE FOR – you truly cannot go wrong with this scrumptious treat. Adapting it to your preferences and putting in the goodies you love makes it that much better, creating a chocolatey mouth-watering treat for the festive season.

4: Chocolate Pavlova

Now this is the ultimate dessert. I cannot express ENOUGH my love for this delicacy. The crunch of the meringue with a chewy centre, and the slight chocolatey aftertaste, topped with strawberries, cream and drizzled with chocolate. This completes my Christmas lunch. Chuck in some chocolate covered strawberries and you’ve got yourself happiness on a plate!

Whilst this year especially has been tough for everyone, don’t forget to always look at the positives in life and really allow yourself to spend that time with your loved ones this festive season and help each other get into the spirit of lights, food and sharing the love of Christmas!
